2011 Annual JUNK-DUMP Report

15.5 TONS collected!

Thank you for your participation!!

← Note for bird enthusiasts:  Killdear bird nest, with eggs
being protected inside orange cones.

June 17, 2011

15.5 tons were collected!  It was a day of family helping family, neighbors helping neighbors, and a lot of rental move out clean up.   People stepping-up to care for their homes and the Allatoona Community environment! Thanks to everyone who participated in the 7th annual all day JUNK-DUMP on Saturday, June 4.  The 15.5 tons of household trash and home-site clean-up loads were brought in cars, pickup trucks and trailers to the temporary weekend bin collection.  The loads collected were registered on the scales at the Bartow County landfill in Emerson, making this the 3rd largest JUNK-DUMP collection.

Bartow County Solid Waste Department staff and volunteers from the Allatoona Community Association Board assisted a steady flow of folks unload their vehicles throughout the 7 hour event.

A special thanks to Lakeside Crossing CITGO station Sonny Patel for allowing use of the temporary lot; to Bartow County Keep Bartow Beautiful Coordinator Sheri Henshaw for supplies and project support; and to Rip Connor, Director Bartow County Solid Waste Department for all the big stuff!

We continue to address the need for a County supervised community collection site in the Allatoona Community.  It may take another SPLOST vote to secure our spot in line….think about it at voting time.
